In Pennsylvania, penalties for DUI offenses can vary considerably depending on a driver’s BAC and whether it’s their first DUI.
According to the Pennsylvania DOT, a first-time DUI in Pennsylvania comes with a fine of at least $300 plus court costs and other fees, but may include the option of an ARD diversion program. Drivers with repeated DUIs and/or high BAC, on the other hand, often face mandatory jail time and fines of up to $10,000.
Pennsylvania drivers with DUIs will also often have to install an Ignition Interlock Device on their vehicle at their own expense. If you need financial assistance to afford your IID, you can apply for a hardship exemption from the State of Pennsylvania. To find out more about getting an Interlock Device in Pennsylvania, see our Pennsylvania IID guide.
