How does Stop-N-Swap work?

Stop-N-Swap makes your monthly calibrations quick and easy! Once it’s time to exchange your fuel cell module, you will:

  • Drive to your nearest Stop-N-Swap location

    You can find the Stop-N-Swap closest to you in the section below. Once you’ve arrived, the attendant will help you with the next steps.

  • Unlock your used module

    The attendant will remove your module by unlocking the screw with a coin or a flat tool.

  • Swap for a new module

    The attendant will take your vehicle odometer reading and license plate number. Once that’s done, you will pay the attendant for the new module and leave the used one behind.

  • Lock in your new module

    You or the attendant will remove the new module from the package and place it on your device, aligning the plate evenly. Then, turn the screw back to the LOCKED position until it’s secure.

  • You’re ready to blow and go!

    Provide a breath sample and start your car to make sure the device is ready to go.

Stop-N-Swap Frequently Asked Questions

Here are a few frequently asked questions about Stop-N-Swap locations and the FLEX device.

Stop-N-Swap™ locations are a more accessible option for receiving regular Ignition Interlock services without having the hassle of visiting an installation shop for every service thanks to our patented FLEX-Cal™ technology.

If you have the Client Portal App downloaded, you can check the app. Or you can check on your device by pressing the center button and using the bottom button to scroll down. Then select “Appointments” by pressing the center button.

You can find the closest Stop-N-Swap location by entering your zipcode in the section above labeled “Find a Stop-N-Swap Location Near You”.

You only need to go into a service center location for any troubleshooting, violation lockout, and or removal of your Ignition Interlock Device.

To get serviced at a Stop-N-Swap location there is no appointment needed, just head to your closest Stop-N-Swap.

Only the FLEX™ (3030) device can be serviced at a Stop-N-Swap location. All other devices will need to go into a shop for regular Service intervals.
The FLEX (3030) device is an all-black unit with 3 buttons on the front of the device that is installed in a vehicle.

Depending on your state, you can have someone else take your vehicle to the Stop-N-Swap Location. To confirm this, contact your local service provider or call our Program Advisors at our Customer Care Center.

You will need to bring: 

  • Your vehicle with the IID installed 
  • A form of payment
