Can I Get an Ignition Interlock Installed on My Bus, Van, or RV? 

There’s no need to worry if you need to install an Ignition Interlock Device (IID) on the vehicle you live in. Smart Start technicians can install an Ignition Interlock on any vehicle, whether it’s a car, van, bus, or RV. Our trained and certified technicians will get your IID installed so you can get back on the road as soon as possible. 

Can I Get a Calibration Out of State? 

Depending on the state requirements, you will need to have your IID serviced at regular intervals (typically 30-90 days). This is called a calibration. This is also an opportunity to ask any questions about your Interlock. 

You can get a calibration done at any Smart Start service location. However, you will need to check with your state authority (DMV, DPS, etc.) to ensure you can get calibrations done out of the state where you received the DUI. 

Getting the calibration done is easy. Just call the Smart Start shop or our corporate number to make an appointment.  

Driving an RV/Van for Vacation or Trips 

If you have an Ignition Interlock in your vehicle that you drive regularly but have plans on using an RV or van for a trip, be cautious. Your first order of business is to ask your state authority if this is allowed. You don’t want to violate any of your court or state-ordered requirements. This could include added fees and/or a longer period with your Ignition Interlock.
