If you’re facing an ignition interlock restriction, you’ll need to return to a Smart Start service center every 30 days so that the appropriate information can be downloaded from your device, compiled into a report, and sent to your State Authority.  We call this “calibration.”  With over 1,500 service centers in the United States, Smart Start makes the calibration process as convenient as possible—you’ll surely find a location near you!  But how do you know when to go for your calibration?

You can always call 1-800-831-3299 to get the answer to these and other pressing ignition interlock questions—BUT Smart Start knows that you lead a busy life.  So, just like the calibration itself, we’ve made it endlessly convenient to check your next appointment or lockout date.  You don’t even have to pick up the phone!  All you need is your device.

To check your next appointment or lockout date, just pick up your Ignition Interlock Device and press #1.  That’s the pound sign, and then 1 on your user-friendly keypad!  We’ve made it one of your many keypad functions—also known as keypad shortcuts!  So, the next time you’re planning your schedule and need to know when to return to Smart Start, press #1 on your device, and the screen will display your next appointment or lockout date.

Your keypad also allows you to program your device in English (*364) or Spanish (*772).  Finally, you can press #2 to check the battery voltage of your vehicle!
