Understanding Oklahoma DUI Requirements

Basic DUI Requirements

We know that navigating a DUI can be overwhelming. Understanding the requirements and process after an alcohol related driving offense in Oklahoma is an important step to getting back on the road. We’ve put together some general information to help you get started.

The Oklahoma Highway Safety Office website lists the penalties for a DUI in Oklahoma, which can include:

  • Up to $10,000 in fines and fees
  • Revocation of your driver’s license
  • Requirement to install an Ignition Interlock Device on your vehicle for 180 days or more
  • One year or more of jail time for felony DUI charges

License Reinstatement

Reinstating your license requires you to complete an approved Oklahoma Bureau of Transportation Impaired Driving Accountability Program (BOT IDAP). This may include drug and alcohol assessment and treatment, as well as an IID requirement. Contact your monitoring authority to learn about the specifics of your BOT IDAP, as these are different for every driver.

You’ll start the process by filling out the online application form and attaching the required documentation. When you’ve completed your IDAP, use the Program Completion options on the Oklahoma BOT website.
