We know that navigating a DUI can be overwhelming. Understanding the requirements and process after an alcohol related driving offense in Kentucky is an important step to getting back on the road. We’ve put together some general information to help you get started.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet provides a DUI fact sheet listing DUI consequences. For a first offense within 10 years, penalties can include:
- Fine of $200-500
- 2 to 30 days jail time
- 90 days of alcohol or substance abuse treatment
- 48 hours to 30 days of community service
- 6 months of Ignition Interlock Device installation
Penalties can be substantially higher if you’ve had one or more previous DUIs within the past 10 years. Your penalties may also increase if your DUI arrest involved certain aggravating circumstances, such as driving 30 mph or more over the speed limit, blowing a blood alcohol content (BAC) of 0.15% or higher, or causing an injury or death.
