The Beginning: Installing Your Smart Start WV Interlock

Once your application to enter the Interlock program is approved by the WV Interlock Department, it’s time to call Smart Start to schedule an installation appointment. Before you call, make sure you received your approval letter from the West Virginia DMV DUI Interlock Department! Our service center agent will need your approval number and DMV file number, which will be in your DMV approval letter.

Once you’re all set and scheduled for your installation appointment, bring the following to your West Virginia Smart Start Interlock service center.

• Two forms of ID
• Proof of residence
• Valid vehicle registration
• Insurance card (make sure to print this card if you only use your auto-insurance app)
• Inspection sticker
• DMV’s approval letter
• A licensed driver
  • You need a licensed driver to drive you to the Smart Start service center and then to the DMV office to receive your Interlock-restricted license.
