Napa Police Say ‘Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over’

The holiday season is upon us and this time of year the number of DUI related crashes always jumps up. In an effort to combat that Napa Police are stepping up their patrols to help keep drunk drivers off the road. If you will be celebrating with any alcohol beverages the police have a message for you, ‘Drive Sober, or Get Pulled Over.’ Between December 12 and January 1, police will be actively seeking any potential drunk drivers, either through DUI checkpoints or saturation patrols.

Each year 31% of all crash fatalities are related to alcohol and drunk driving. And on Christmas Day the percentage jumped to 36% of crash fatalities in relation to drunk driving. Those numbers are extremely high, especially considering it is an easy situation to avoid. If you are going to be drinking the safest way for you to arrive home is to designate a sober driver, or use a taxi. Do not make this holiday season a sad one for your family, or someone else’s family. Drive Safe!
