Smart Start offers two different types of breath alcohol testing devices: ignition interlocks and an alcohol monitoring system for the home. All of the devices feature an alcohol specific fuel cell sensor with a simple, reliable breath sampling mechanism. Several design features make circumvention and tampering difficult.

Ignition Interlocks

The SSI-1000 and SSI-20/20 are breath alcohol analyzers small electronic handheld devices wired into a vehicle's ignition system, requiring the driver to take and pass a test that screens for deep-lung breath alcohol before the vehicle can be started. Years of research and refinement have made Smart Start's interlocks the ideal choice for any breath alcohol requirement situation or budget. The SSI-20/20 and SSI-1000 meet or exceed National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) specifications and international standards for ignition interlocks.

Our SSI-20/20 includes many technological improvements and can be combined with our patented digital photo identification module. By using the Photo ID module camera, Smart Start is able to positively identify the user of the device.

Home Alcohol Monitoring System

The SMART START IN-HOM is an affordable home or office based breath alcohol testing device which captures the BrAC (Breath Alcohol Content) and a photo of the target user as well as the date and time of the breath test. The IN-HOM can be utilized as an alternative or as an addition to a mandated interlock requirement. Affordable and portable, it is perfect for the client who does not own or have access to a vehicle.
