Santa Clarita DUI Checkpoint
Officers in Santa Clarita will be holding a driver’s license and DUI checkpoint on Friday within city limits. The exact location of the checkpoint is not currently known but the checkpoint will be held from 6PM to 2AM.
The Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Department used Nixle to release a statement about the Santa Clarita checkpoint. They often use Nixle to release information about crime trends and community outreach.
DUI checkpoints are used as a deterrent for drunk drivers and have proven successful in reducing the number of drunk drivers and the number of alcohol related deaths in car accidents. According to the Nixle release, crashes involving an impaired driver can be reduced up to 20 percent when DUI checkpoints are well publicized.
Santa Clarita officers will be looking for signs of alcohol and drug impairment while checking that driver’s have proper licensing. The intention is to only delay motorists for a few moments while these checks take place.
If you are caught driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol you can face severe penalties. These consequences include jail time, fines, fees, DUI expenses, and other expenses that can exceed $10,000. The price to pay for driving under the influence is high.
There are plenty of options to help you arrive home safely. You can designate a driver before you go out, you can call a taxi, or you can utilize driving services like Uber or Lyft. All of these options are considerably cheaper than the potential financial ramifications of driving under the influence.
If the exact location of the Santa Clarita DUI checkpoint is determined we will be sure to update this post and share it on our Facebook, Twitter, and Google+.
